XMOS USB 9.2 software release: doubling data bandwidth for high-end audio designs

XMOS is delighted to announce the release of version USB 9.2 of USB Audio software for reference design, a major upgrade that takes USB performance to the next level, with support for high-bandwidth endpoints. The USB 9.2 release doubles the data throughput available over USB, enabling developers to deliver richer, more powerful audio experiences than ever before.

With the high bandwith endpoint features in USB 9.2, the XCORE.AI processor can now offer 2x the data bandwidth, opening up new performance ceilings for high-end audio applications. Users can increase the number of audio channels processed from 16 to 32 at 96 kHz or up to 20 ADAT Tx/RX streams at 192 KHz, without compromising latency, stability, or quality.

This means higher-resolution audio, more complex configurations, and the freedom to innovate at the cutting edge of sound design. Whether you’re creating studio-grade interfaces, advanced DSP systems, or immersive consumer audio products, the increased throughput provides the foundation for next-generation performance.

The new USB 9.2 release aligns with XMOS’s 800 MHz XCORE.AI processor, offering developers a complete, high-performance solution. Together, they deliver exceptional computational power and data capacity, ideal for complex, multichannel audio systems demanding precision, low latency and high throughput.

With this release, XMOS continues its mission to give designers more headroom, more flexibility, and more creative control. The enhanced USB capability ensures that products built on XMOS technology not only meet today’s expectations, but are also future-ready for the evolving demands of high-resolution, multichannel, and future multi-media formats.
