XMOS Semiconductor, the creator of Software Defined Silicon, has won
the Intellectual Property and FPGA category of the annual Electron d’or
awards. The Electron d’or trophy was presented to XMOS VP Customer
Marketing Noel Hurley at a ceremony held at the headquarters of FIEN,
France’s Electronic and Numeric Industries Network in Paris.
Now
in its 11th year, the Electron d’or awards recognise those electronic
products the editorial team of Electronique magazine believes have made
the biggest impact in the last 12 months. The awards’ independent panel
of French electronics industry experts determined that XMOS first
product family, the XS1-G, merited the prestigious Electron d‘or for
2008. Runners-up in the IP and FPGA category included Actel, Altera and
Xilinx.
Picking up the award on behalf of XMOS, Noel Hurley
said, "Winning the Electron d’or is a real honour which reflects our
international standing in the reconfigurable semiconductor space. It
recognises our hard work over the past three years and tells us that an
independent body of industry experts thinks that what we've doing is
impressive. With the launch of our first product, we’re now entering a
new phase and are ready to grow the businessâ€Â.
XMOS
Semiconductor launched its first Software Defined Silicon product at
the ESC Silicon Valley Exhibition in San Jose in April 2008. The XS1-G
product family comprises three devices offering a choice of 1,2 or 4 of
the company’s unique XCore™ event-driven, multi-threaded processor
tiles. The first available family member is the XS1-G4.
