BRISTOL, UK - 13th Dec 2007 - XMOS Semiconductor, the creator of
Software Defined Silicon, has won the Start-up of the Year Award at the
annual Elektra Awards held in London. Now in its fifth year, the
Elektra Awards are regarded as the most prestigious product technology
and business awards in Europe and recognise the achievements of
individuals and firms across the European Electronics industry.
Open to all venture capital funded or privately financed electronics companies setting up operations in the last five years, the Start-up of the Year Award is made to the company that Elektra's independent and industry-wide panel of judges considers to be building a truly world class business.
Picking up the award on behalf of XMOS, VP Customer Marketing and Co-Founder Noel Hurley said, "We are simply thrilled to receive this award. It really does recognise the incredible efforts of the great team of people we have at XMOS and the vision and encouragement of our investor partners."
Established in 2005, XMOS Semiconductor has recently announced technical details of its first Software Defined Silicon, a completely new class of programmable semiconductor. Its event-driven, multi-threaded processor engine technology provides consumer electronics designers with a unique unified C-based software design flow that increases product differentiation while substantially reducing cost and time to market. The company announced Series A funding of $16 million in September and is set to introduce its first product in Q1'2008.
