Native Instruments Use XMOS Silicon to Deliver New Products

Bristol, UK and Burlingame, Calif. (October 11, 2011) – XMOS®, developer of the industry’s first event-driven 32-bit embedded processor, announces that Native Instruments, a leading manufacturer of software and hardware for computer-based music production and DJing, has adopted XMOS processors as an audio streaming platform in their product range, helping them to deliver USB Audio Class 2.0 compliant and differentiated products.

Native Instruments has integrated a single XMOS chip with software based on the XMOS USB Audio 2.0 reference design into a variety of new products. The ability to re-use major parts of the software, allowed their engineers to focus on the differentiating features and reduce the time taken to bring the products to market.

"We are amazed by how rapidly our engineers have learnt to use XMOS devices, and the speed with which they are able to design new products," said Mate Galic, Chief Technology Officer and President, Native Instruments.

XMOS technology is based on a unified development platform making it easy to integrate into existing workflow. The flexibility of the solution with the design simplicity allows engineers to bring differentiated products to market much quicker than competitive solutions at the same time as adopting emerging standards.

More information on the XMOS USB Audio 2.0 reference design is available from the XMOS website.

About XMOS

Headquartered in Bristol, UK, XMOS has developed an event-driven 32-bit, user-defined embedded processor that significantly lowers product development time and bill of materials cost. The revolutionary multithreaded processor combines the code efficiency of a RISC processor, the computational performance of a DSP and the unique flexibility of implementing all peripherals through user-defined “C” software, not in silicon. The XMOS multicore architecture supports high levels of real-time performance with operating system functionality built directly into the hardware architecture. The company was founded in 2005 and has additional offices in Burlingame, CA, Austin, TX, and Chennai, India.
